Awards? Yes. Honors is a better term though, in our opinion. Each festival Movie Week, a number of deserving movies are chosen as recipients of the Beijing Golden Duck. This will follow the fortunate filmmaker in perpetuity as we improve our ability to reward them. We do mail nice things to the winners. We support all movies for consideration towards paying distribution deals in the Chinese broadcast, DVD, and possibly even theatrical markets. (Our screening events began as industry-only first, then opened up to the public. The industry people do come. They will see and appraise the movies.)

奖品？然而我们认为荣誉是更好的奖励？每年的电影周上，一部分的获奖者会收到北京烤鸭？这对于获奖者来说是个好兆头并且我们尽我们的可能给他们奖励。我们给获胜者寄好东西，我们帮助所有的电影有机会上中国的广播，出版DVD，有可能的话甚至去电影院上映。（我们电影周的放映是首轮小规模上映然后才对公众开放。业内人士也会前来因此他们会看并且评估你的电影价值）
Here is an update on our Awards policy. As of March 2009.
We are not having any sort of ceremony, or even anouncing winners for the 3rd New Beijing International Movie Week until October 2009. This is because our process of choosing winners is a lengthy one, where the nominated movies are distributed among Chinese university professors, experienced producers, and government officials. Each of them gives their review and based on their recommendations we will select the winners of the Golden Duck awards. There will be a sponsored press conference and special festival screening of past and present Golden Duck award winners to be announced later in 2009.

Now announcing the winner of the 2009 CRYING MONKEY AWARD!
The decision has been made.
The award plaque has been printed.
The monkey has been punched (to make it cry).
On August 25th, in New York City, the FIRST BEIJING FILM FESTIVAL CRYING MONKEY AWARD for a non-fictional movie will be handed over to director Petr Kepka for his art documentary: STANISLAV STANEK: MY BLUES AND GREENS. (link)
This movie was selected from a group of art movie submissions we received and subsequently showed at our 2009 New Beijing International Movie Festival in the Spring.
We will show this movie again this year, along with our other "Golden Duck" award winners!
