Listing of June 2008 selections (2008年6月展映的影片列表)
We showed 40-some movies from all over the world during the December week of events. About 27 shorts, 8 feature-length, and 7 documentaries. One of the most frequently asked questions we received during that series was- "Why aren't you showing more Chinese movies?" The answer? We show and promote other groups' showings of Chinese indie movies year-round. We host at least 1 public event every month where people come together to watch Chinese indie movies. In China, locally produced indie movies are currently more accessible than the foreign ones we receive through Withoutabox.com. The New Beijing International Movie Week is a showcase for culturally aware, socially acceptable movies that Chinese audiences would not otherwise have the opportunity to see.
The list of movies shown in December is accessible below, and we are continuing to promote these works at "best-of" and private industry screenings throughout the year. The next batch of selected movies will be listed before our next New Beijing International Movie Week begins in June!
